How to Convert Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro to an Older Version
There are many reasons you may want to convert your newer copy of Adobe Acrobat Pro to an older version. Maybe it was a trial version that ran out, or maybe you need to convert your license onto another computer. But converting it into an older version is not difficult.
-
Step 1
Go to Control Panel under the Start Menu. Or access the Control Panel under My Computer.
-
Step 2
Double click the link titled Add or Remove Programs. A new window pops up that lists the programs installed on your computer; this may take a few minutes.
-
Step 3
Click on the Adobe Acrobat item listed. It will typically be identified by and accompanied with the Adobe emblem.
-
Step 4
Click the Remove button on the bottom right corner of the list item.
-
Step 5
Click OK when asked if you want to uninstall the program. If there is another dialogue box asking if you want to remove saved profile data, make sure you click yes.
-
Step 1
Locate your copy of Adobe Acrobat Pro. This may be a disc in a box you bought in a store, or a downloadable, executable or self-extracting archive file downloaded from the website.
-
Step 2
Put disc in, or double click on the executable from the Adobe web site. If you received a self-executing archive file, it may need to install setup files on your hard drive before it can install. Keep in mind where you place the setup files on your computer; you may want to delete them to clear up hard drive space once the installation is complete.
-
Step 3
Follow the installation instructions provided on the screen for whatever version of Adobe Acrobat Pro you are installing. You will need to enter a serial number or key for this version. It will be different than the one you used for your older version. Keep this serial number on hand for the installation.
-
Step 4
Try running the program once the installation is complete.
