How to Put 3D Files Into Acrobat 9

Three-dimensional (3D) images are an invaluable tool for conveying ideas. According to the University of Hertfordshire, “Representing 3 dimensions on a flat piece of paper is a very important skill for designers enabling them to communicate their ideas to other people.” With Adobe Acrobat 9, you can directly insert three-dimensional images into the body of a document. This enables 3D images to be rendered on paper as well as electronic documents.

  1. Select the “Tools” menu from the top menu bar. A drop-down menu will appear underneath the tool bar.
  2. Step 2

Click on “Multimedia” on the drop-down menu. Then select “3D Tool” from the sub-menu that appears. The mouse cursor will turn into crosshairs.

  3. Step 3

Drag the crosshairs while holding down the mouse button to highlight the area in the PDF where you want to place the 3D file. A pop-up window labeled “Insert 3D” will appear.

  4. Step 4

Type the 3D file’s name into the text bar or select the button labeled “Browse” and locate the 3D file on your computer’s hard drive.

  5. Step 5

Click on the button labeled “Okay.”
